Gowanus Expressway Rehabilitation – Brooklyn, NY
This project required the complete rehabilitation of four lanes of the Gowanus Expressway from Court Street to 60th Street; virtually the entire length of the viaduct. The Gowanus Expressway is one of the most heavily travelled routes in New York City and was rated one of America’s worst roadways before the completion of this project.
This project required the complete demolition of concrete decks and detailed shielding. Hundreds of structural steel repairs were executed and new cast-in-place concrete deck was constructed along the entire length of the viaduct. New asphalt overlays were replaced from 65th Street to 92nd Street. In addition, electrical systems, painting and signage upgrades were performed. Maintaining traffic on this heavily congested artery required extensive coordination and communication with the owner.
• This $151 Million project was completed on time.
• Recipient of the Roger H. Corbetta “Award of Merit” from the Concrete Industry Board.
