Brooklyn/Queens Expressway (I-278)
Park Ave. Viaduct Reconstruction Brooklyn, NY

The reconstruction of 3 structures: the Park Avenue Viaduct, Nassau-Concord Viaducts and Tillary Street On-Ramp of the Brooklyn/Queens Expressway I-278 in Brooklyn.

This project included the complete rehabilitation of the 70-span Park Avenue Viaduct, 5-span Nassau-Concord Viaduct and Tillary Street On-Ramp. The complete replacement of fascia girders, extensive steel rehabilitation, seismic upgrades to pier footings, replacement of 665 bearings and placing 500,000 SF of new concrete deck represented the major aspects of this vital job. Our standard approach to diverse elements into an integrated and harmonious operation proved to be successful on a large scale.

Throughout the project, the concrete deck required temporary supports in all stages in order to maintain traffic. Temporary ramp construction, including a gresswall was required to maintain the Tillary Street On-Ramp. A new downspout system, lighting upgrades and new signage were installed, while all 3 structures were painted in accordance with the contract.

This $138 Million project is scheduled for on time completion.
