Building G Foundations and Relieving Platform
Riverside Drive South
This project required large scale pile driving and excavation operations; H-piles and massive concrete pours for the foundations and a relieving platform added to the construction.
Managing the site during the excavation and stockpiling of soil was critical to the construction phasing. Extensive planning for massive concrete placements was a key element to executing large monolithic pours. Excavation of 25,000 cubic yards of soil on a tight work site was required in order to build the massive relieving platform. Soil management and material stockpiling was necessary to perform the work in a methodical order. Over 6,000 cubic yards of concrete was placed in the relieving platform and 1,000 cubic yards were placed in the pile caps. The schedule required work to be performed during the winter season which required external heating of the concrete. Additional schedule constraints required us to work various trades in a closed environment in order to meet the overall project schedule. DeFoe Corp. completed the $9.2 Million project in 6 months.
