BQE Connector Ramp/ Gowanus Expressway
This project required the widening and complete replacement of the structural steel and concrete deck of the BQE Connector Ramp/ Gowanus Expwy. The extraordinarily heavy traffic conditions made this ramp a challenge to complete on time, but exquisite planning, communication and teamwork overcame the obstacles of downtown Brooklyn.
This project required the complete demolition of the concrete deck and detailed shielding. New foundations, steel columns and stringers were added to widen the structure and new cast-in-place concrete decks and concrete barriers were constructed to complete the ramp. Additionally, electrical systems, painting and signage upgrades were performed. A phased construction approach was used to bring this project in on time.
The BCW Connector Ramp was part of a $151 Million project on the Gowanus Expressway which was completed on time. The project received the Roger H. Corbetta “Award of Merit” from the Concrete Industry Board
