Rehabilitation of Long Island Expressway
Nassau County, NY
This Project involved the upgrade of the Long Island Expressway from Lakeville Road to Searingtown Road and provided the structural improvements for an HOV lane that extended the entire distance of the project.
The project incorporated staged removal, widening and replacement of 3 LIE bridges. Furthermore, foundation augering was executed for the installation of 120,000 square feet of precast concrete noise wall to smother the traffic noise in residential areas. The widening of the on-grade LIE allowed for the addition of a HOV lane. Additional upgrades included the LIE median, drainage, signage and service road modifications. Remarkably, a non-repeating Random Ashlar Stone pattern was simulated using a urethane form liner to create 60,000 square feet of retaining wall with an architectural finish.
Milestone and Early Completion Bonuses were awarded DeFoe Corp.
